I've known guys who will pulled the head off and honed the cylinders with the engines in the cart to get rings to seat. not exactly the right way but more kinda and old timers trick to breath new life into old engines. and i've heard of multiple ways to try and get rings to seat like putting comet in the cylinders and running it to do the same. not so sure I would try that though. i can't really advise you on any of these things, i've never done them and don't know the repercussions that would come from it.
