Help with an ezgo
This is an ez-go that belongs to my mom down in Texas. It hasnt run in over 2 years. She cant tell me anything about it, but i did get her to send me a few pics last night of it. Now being a Yamaha guy i have no idea what model or year it is. All i know is that if i cant make it run im going to put a clone engine in it. She got someone to charge the battery and it rolls over but wont start. The person that jumped it took the air cleaner off also. I dont know if it sparks or anything yet. What is the most common thing to go bad on these? She said that it didnt smoke or anything. It just stopped starting up for her.

Re: Help with an ezgo
Nice cart, its a 1996 ezgo txt and has a 295cc 4 stroke twin cylinder motor. Being it sat for 2 years, i would start with some maintenance, clean batt. connections, remove old fuel and replace with fresh, new spark plugs. Take fuel line loose from carb, turn over motor, should see a charge of fuel from pump shoot out. remove spark plug, ground plug and crank, should have spark on both plugs. That should point you in a direction of problem. You might need to adjust valve lash to bring up compression.

Re: Help with an ezgo
Well i have made up my mind on this cart after talking to my dad last night. Im going to take the engine out and put a clone in it. He said that it was ticking real bad when it stopped running. This way she has a new motor and i dont have to worry about it. I only go down to Texas once every 4 years.

Re: Help with an ezgo
The ticking was probably the rockers slapping because they need to be adjusted to .004 clearance.

Re: Help with an ezgo
I have never done any trail riding. I have no idea if any is available. My area is all privately owned farm land.
