Change plug on battery charger?
I have a 1993 EZGO 36v, that takes a charger with an SB50 plug. A fellow down the road has an old Lestronic II 36v charger with a crow's foot plug. Wondering about getting the charger and cutting off the crow's foot plug and replacing it with a SB50 plug. Good idea? Bad idea?

Re: Change plug on battery charger?
I've done it before. Sometimes the inner cord wiring is different, and I'm not familiar with the ones you have without seeing them. But it can be done. Most new chargers come with an old style plug that adapts to any new style

Re: Change plug on battery charger?
It will be easy on a Lestronic II. The cable from the charger has only 2 wires (white is positive, black negative). The whole plug kit without fancy handle is about $14.

Re: Change plug on battery charger?
if you go with the cord/plug swap , do not cut cord .. you can use the SB50 plug and cord from the ezgo charger, in the Lestronic II charger

Re: Change plug on battery charger?
Thanks CTD, I picked up the charger now and removed the old cord with the crows foot adapter but notice that the wire on the crows foot cable looks to be quite a bit heavier gauge that the wire on the cable of the SB50 plug (grey) and cable I have. Is that a concern?

Thanks CTD and the rest. The operation was a success and now I've got a bargain battery charger.
