Batteries not fully charging

I am having a similar issue. Club Car over 2 year old batteries. I checked the water after charging and topped off all cells. Took it around the block and plugged back in. Now the charger does not shut off and when I unplug light goes on for about 10 sec. Took it for a 1 mile ride and had no issues but still did not shut off. All batteries are over 9v

How long are you leaving it on charge. It can take up to 16 hours.

Batteries that are nearest to 10 years old and have had the plates exposed to air are sure to be signing off on their will as they are short for time on earth... As requested get a digital voltage meter that can read DC voltage and then chime back in...

Save your money for that meter. If your batteries truly were new in 2006 they need replacing. It makes you wonder why the cart tech even suggested an OBC.

Actually you may have no issue at all.... Anytime you unplug and replug the charger to the cart you are restarting a charging sequence and the charger should go through another charging cycle. When you unplug the cart during the charge cycle the battery light in the dash is from the OBC telling you that the charge process was interrupted. And as stated the charger is allowed to run via the OBC for up to 16 hours.

Thanks for the reply. I did leave it overnight to charge and it was still not a full charge, but it was not 16 hours. I left the charger off for a couple of days to see if that changed anything.

Before you unplugged the charger was it still actively charging the batteries or had it switched off? Also how are you determining that it is not fully charging your batteries? A digital voltage meter goes a long way toward trouble shooting many of the problems these carts experiance. Fully charged and at rest your battery pack should read right around 50.9 volts if holding 100 % SOC and while under a good solid load should not drop below 42 volts for very long unless the load is very large or your batteries are weak.
