Default EZGO DCS and DCX400

I read a thread just posted about someone burning up their motor.

I have a DCS with DCX 400 with stock motor and stock tires and 2 gauge cables.

Can this controller burn up a stock motor? The cart is plenty fast... I am getting about 21 to 23 mph. Cart is 100% of the time on flat streets.

If it could burn the motor... I would rather adjust the controller down if possible to avoid the possibility. If so, what settings do you adjust?

If there is nothing to worry about...I would rather leave it as is...

Extended operation at very slow and very fast speeds seem to be hard on the motors. Vary your speed and load, you'll be fine.

I've had my DCX400 for over 8 years now and never had an issue with stock motor. Have not programmed it since I got it but I will find a thread that I saw a couple of years ago re: that. I have 4 ga. cables, and get about 23 mph on the flats, stock height wheels and tires.

1 year ago, I still have not tried programming but seems to work fine as is.

Other towing the cart with the Run/Tow switch in the Run position or pushing against brick walls, I'm not sure if you can burn out a DCS motor that is in reasonably good health, with a DCX400 controller on flat land with a 36V battery pack and stock tires.

Make sure you are running Field Map #3 and the Brake Current slider is set to 80% or less, but other than that, the only thing I'd suggest is checking the motor temperature after a long hard run. If it is below about 200°F, it's doing okay.

What's the best way to get temperature? One of those laser temperature readers?
