Default yamaha engine/rear diff upgrade

apologies if this has been asked before... I did find a Yamaha golf cart timeline link but the site was no loner available. When did the Yamaha carts go to 4 stroke engines? I'm assuming at that point they also updated the rear diff with reverse. Is it difficult to swap out a G1 diff to a later unit with reverse?

thanks in advance

mike

The G2 was first 4-cycle. The 2-cycle axle & 4-cycle axle share a lot of design similarities. There are threads about putting the G2/9 axle in a G1 for motor swaps. Just search the site a little deeper.

It used to be on the yamaha corporate site. The G2 started in the mid or late 80s then changed to the G9 in about '92. The G1 were made to '89 I think.

I found one post discussing this with a Kubota engine swap and lost the darn thing, my computer rebooted when I walked away for a few. Now I cant find it.

I think it stated the rears are a direct bolt in but the clutch is offset but wouldn't matter if your doing a say big block upgrade. Thank you for the help

Its all on here I have read them. Its easier to use google to search this site IMO. The software they use for all these forum sites has a terrible search engine, admins have told me there is nothing they can do but put a google search in the forum.
