Most of my engine experience is with 2 stroke dirt bike engines. Premix oil will gunk up the silencer over time. What is actually plugging up the exhaust on these engines?

Pretty much same thing, oil makes carbon flakes in the muffler, a flake breaks free & finds its way to the exit (that it can't fit out of). Typically found on older, more worn out 4-cycle examples

I finished my 6 inch lift and tried the zip tie on the governor. Worked very well, more than enough speed.

I've got a 2007 g29 and did the zip tie mod. I think I only got up to around 12mph. Shouldn't it be higher? Possibly the motor needs tuned up?

Next check would be belt & clutches.

I also have a 2007 and with a fresh set of reworked clutches and belt and the zip tie, I hit 20-21 MPH. So you need to check the clutches and belt and throttle cable to make sure it opens completely. But unless the engine is completely clapped out, you should do much better than 12 MPH. That is the speed the governor usually holds it to.

On the zip tie mode, I find when its pulled as tight as it can go, which is beyond the threaded part, over time, the seal at the top of the governor shaft will leak oil.

Crank the nut all the way in and you'll be fine. Just don't hold it to the floor when going down a hill. Have fun...
