Default 2007 48v Club Car DS Charging Question

This is the charger that came with my cart. ( 5amp )

Question #1
Is this charger considered a " smart charger "

I have 4 New 12v Trojan 1275 Batteries.
I've had it plugged in for 16 hours before and the green charge light never came on. My digital volt meter only shows 53 volts full charge.
Using volt meter each 12v battery reads 12.8 - 12.9 volts when I unplug the charger. While charging each 12v battery reaches 14-16 volts.

Question #2: Why won't green charge light come on?
Question #3 Will this charger ruin these new batteries?
Question #4 How to know if charger is bypassing OBC?

Thanks Guys!

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that charger is a piece of junk. They are available on eBay for about 60 bucks and it will probably never fully charge those Trojans. They don’t rely on the OBC. Unfortunately, cart-sellers include those all the time.

I’d get a charger from Scotty at cartsunlimited.net. He can recommend the best one for your needs.

Yes, its just an automated charger and as Luke stated, Junk.... You need a ~15a or so to properly charge and sustain a pack that size. It also needs to have an algorithm for your type of acid battery. Most all smart chargers will and they will have a float or maintenance mode to keep them up in-between charges.
