You need to figure out exactly what you want to do with the cart. I knew I was pretty much going to use it strictly for hunting, so that's how I built it. Take a look at this website http://www.cartsunlimited.net/ and speak with Scotty. He will help you with anything and everyhing you need, no matter what direction you decide to go. More than likely, your 36 volt cart has a 36 volt controller and solenoid. You will need to upgrade your controller and solenoid to one made to work with 48 volts. Your next week link is the forward/reverse switch and maybe cables.

Question
Why the forward/reverse switch?

Only necessary for series carts. FNR or FR, F/R, F&R (I did a search on Shopezgo and the most hits came from "FNR") is designed for two fat people, golf bags, and a slow smooth golf cart trail, with frequent stops between holes. I overtaxed my FNR and two solenoids running all stock, but with four medium adults and a backseat, running all night long.

Upgrades will push a stock FNR beyond its capabilities.

I have a 1999 ez-go
36 volt
No tow/run switch
All stock.
I forget how to tell if it’s a series....,
I also would have 4 (ahem ahem ) healthy adults .
Stock rear seats .

If it works, I'd just check the four cables and studs on the back of the FNR after a long/heave ride. As long as it's not getting hot, I'd just stick with what you have.

It's when you decide to upgrade that it becomes a problem, along with your solenoid and cables.
