Now that you say it, it has been since it has gotten colder here, But then again I am in Florida, 50 degrees shouldn't make a difference I don't think. |

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
Approximately 15% loss of capacity at 60°F according to Trojan.
You may have other issues but I would be hesitant to get very concerned just yet. The batteries react slowly to temp changes so if you happen to have a couple of 70° days don't expect an immediate increase in range. The opposite is true also, of course so if it has been warm and you just had a day or 2 of cold weather then something else is going on. |

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
The cart is a 2009. Obviously the Danaher controller does not like the big tires. Could the controller possibly be causing the problem? Or could the motor be getting worn out? Do these motors ever "wear out" needing to be rebuilt/replaced?

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
Cooler weather and new batteries needing to be broken in would be my first guess. The new batteries should get stronger with every charge and it seems to take 30-50 charge cycles for them to break in.

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
The reason I put new batteries in was because I was having this problem.

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
Do you have a DPI Gen-III or Gen-IV and what mode is it set to?
The only way to accurately estimate range is to start with fully charged batteries (fresh off regular charge cycle or float charge), drive a known distance (longer the better) and measure pack voltage for the end SoC about half an hour after the end of test run. Use 100%SoC as the start value and subtract the End %SoC and divide that number by the miles traveled (use a GPS to measure distance traveled) to get %SoC used per mile. Then digvide 50% by the number to get and range estimate from 100%SoC discharging to 50%SoC Measure the electrolyte temperature at end of run and adjust range estimate to 80F. Attached is an example of the range I was getting with two people on-board shortly after replacing a controller and motor. |

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
The first time I put new lead acid batteries in my TXT I was amazed around charge cycle 25 or 30 that the cart was noticeably livelier. I didn't know much about the break in period on new batteries at the time.

Not sure if charger is Gen-III or Gen-IV, and not sure what mode it is set to. Thank you for the steps to check my estimate range. I will check this next time I go for a long run |

Re: RXV run time getting shorter
New to the thread and not looking at the real old stuff so I could be off base.
I just ordered a delta plug and receptacle because the existing ones are wore down and don’t always make a good connection. If I take the time to ensure it’s fully plugged I get a decent charge, knowing that my batteries are 5 years old. If my wife plugs it in - no telling if it’s charging or not. So just ordered a new plug & receptacle from Amazon (since EZGO quit listing them on their website) If your plug and receptacle are older, look at replacing them. Roughly $135 on Amazon.com for both. That may help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
