cgtech,
Had a blight of these several years ago, but wouldn't recommend it.
Pine boring beetle. All natural and you didn't do it either ?

The limited slip kit they sell but don't have for older units
would be smaller just a friction plate setup with double
spring loads x 4 and friction material on both sides to
"lock" the spider gears in synthetic oil.

I always wanted a parts fabricator.

Soon as the wife gives in I'll have that lathe, mill, drill combo.
Bolton BT800, About $4K for stand, collets and mill bits, just
enough to start out. This one has dual motors.

Been there. Trust me when I tell you, if you have the room, buy two separate machines. The table on the combo is very small. You may not think so right now, but you will. I regret only buying a 9x20 lathe and wish I had a 12x36.
It only has a 3/4 horsepower motor. My mill drill has 1 1/2 horsepower and my lathe has 1 HP. You really want an R8 collet on the mill, that's what all the real (bridgeport) mills have. I included a pic of both my machines, I put DRO's on the mill/drill and upgraded the 9x20 as much as I could. Do whatever works for you, just trying to help. Oh and don't mind the mess

Great advice 70oldsracer !

Might as well go big or stay under the porch.
I have a friend who retired 27 yrs. from the Navy in his 80's
as a machinist. Trying to learn all I can from him.

Guess it makes sense to get it all in one bite as the prices will
never be as cheap as they are right now. The two machines that is.

Still wondering why you haven't attempted to make a limited
slip plate of your own ?

It's fit in any Dana electric axle I have tried it in, Yamaha, Ezgo TXT and Marathon, (And a few yamaha Dana gas axles). And I value the trees in my neighborhood more than faster internet...

I would, but it's freezing here right now (21 degrees this morning) and I have no desire to get out there and take the carrier out of the rear end. I would also need some type of rotary indexing table to be able to make the circle cuts for the clutch material to sit in. The rest is really pretty straight forward. One could use valve springs from the cylinder head of a car to push the limited slip plates against the side gears. I actually bought a limited slip unit and it should be here tomorrow. If the weather warms up and I decide to swap carriers, I'll attempt to make something.

I hear that 70oldsracer.
Cold weather having effects on myself that it didn't used to.
Can't blame you there.

"I was thinking" (don't) an eccentric would cut the friction
circles on the mill bed.

Supposed to drop in temps below normal here through next week.

You're about 2 hours NW of me. It's been kinda cold and wet, but it seems like every year, my bones get less and less tolerant of the cold.

And we're in the South! I can't imagine living where it really gets cold.

I have been following this thread. Will this carrier fit my 1994 EZGO TXT housing, gears and axles?

Used to drive a box truck from inside the perimeter I-285
to destinations within 100 miles from there.
Have some friends who live in Buford.
Do NOT miss the hell of driving in the Big A.
