Default Theoretical Ranges?

So I am rather new to golf carts and looking at CC Precedents.

What would be my theoretical range for a lifted CC Precedent under the following conditions:
1. Four 12V configuration, stock?
2. Six 8V configuration, stock?
3. Six 8V configuration, Bandit motor?
4. Six 8V configuration, 600 Amp AC Controller, 4kW AC Motor?

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Theoretical Ranges?

Can't really say because terrain and driving style will greatly affect how far you go.

In a totally stock configuration, a cart with six 8volt 170Ah batteries is supposed to be able to handle 3 full circuits of an 18 hole golf course. This assumes relatively flat terrain, and frequent stopping/starting with rest periods. Figure an average of about 35-40 miles.
With modifications, that will likely be lower. A higher power motor will draw more amps and bring that range down.

A 4 x12v pack will be quite a bit lower, as even in stock configuration those packs tend to have about 25-30% less range compared to a 6x8v pack.

An AC conversion will typically get the best range assuming you are driving at a normal speed and power setting. If you are driving at max speed and max power, that will drop and you may not be able to tell much difference between the AC motor and a DC motor.

Another thing to consider is the capacity rating of the batteries.
Typically an 8v golf cart battery will be around 170Ah capacity. There are some cheaper ones that are 160Ah or even as low as 150Ah, and those should be avoided if you plan to run a modified suspension (lift, big tires, etc) or upgraded motor combo.

There are several companies that offer higher capacity 8v batteries up as high as 205Ah, which will extend range and power delivery, but at a much higher cost.

And then there is the Lithium option, which has a much higher range, and a much higher cost. Most lithium Drop-in batteries available right now do not get a significantly longer range than Lead Acid batteries. But a DIY lithium pack from recycled automotive lithium batteries can have a very long range. Those have other downsides in that you have to build a relatively complicated system yourself, and they will not very well tolerate abuse or mis-use or neglect, and can be very dangerous if they're not treated properly.
