Mid 80's Club Car with Issues
Guys, I need help. I traded for a mid 80's Club Car that had "some" wiring issues. It had solenoids bypassed, resistors removed, corroded cables, etc. It would take off with or without the key on as soon as you put it into forward or reverse. I replaced the bad solenoids and missing resistors, but now it won't run at all. I have checked and double checked against a wiring diagram, but I don't know if it is right either. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am somewhat mechanical, but this is the first Golf Cart that I have ever worked on. I will post the Model, SN, and Pics sometime this week. Thanks.

Re: Mid 80's Club Car with Issues
its an 83..............follow the wires from the soleniods into the black box up by the front drivers side battery mounted to frame rail and its easier to take that #5 battery out to work on it............in that box there is a plastic slider and 5 micro switches, make sure they are all good each one activates a solenoid also make sure the plastic slider is good..............make sure all the small wires are good, i knnow this sounds comlicated but its really not you,ll have more trouble getting that box off the frame if its never been off than working on above items you just want to take your time and triple check your wiring...............those micro switches are like 2 or 3 bucks each the slider about the same so if your not sure throw them away and get new ones..........missing a resistor coil isn,t going to stop the cart from running so worry about that last........once you know the micros and wires going to the soleniod are good get the rear wheels off ground and slowly press pedal your 1st solenoid on drivers side is the master if it clicks you have power after that is 1st speed when it clicks the wheels should slowly be turning as you press pedal down you,ll hear 1,st 2,nd 3,rd and 4th and wheels will by than be moving quite fast, if you do these things and you still have no power to soloeniods i would look at the keyswitch which again is easy and cheap......................motor is good ( cart ran ) and you had forward and reverse............by the way there might be a wiring diagram up above in the stickies..................good luck and post what you find.................................

I have the same year cart so if you need some pictures of the wiring, just let me know and I'll post them in this thread.. Shadowman is right, check the micro switches in the throttle box to make sure they are working...

Re: Mid 80's Club Car with Issues
Great advice Shadowman, I was missing the click on one of my 5 switches. I stole a switch from the F/R safety (shorted that spot till I can find a replacement)
The hard part was indeed getting the box out. Pics/Video http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...st-clicks.html |
