2005 Precedent wiring help
OK. I need some major help of the wiring of a 2005 Precedent IQ. Newbie might have messed something up.
So I was installing a lift kit on my 2005 Precedent. I disconnected only the white and orange wire on the motor. Unfortunately, I did not disconnect any power source. As I was moving the wires around, one of them touched something and sparked. I did not think much of it and proceeded with the lift install. Once I was done with the install, I hooked the white wire to A2 (outside of the motor) and connected the orange wire to F2 (inner on on black part of motor). I am almost certain this was their location when I started. In fact, I found a diagram on the net (not sure if it was accurate) and it had the same location. Can someone verify that too??? Turned the key on, hit the gas, and nothing. I took the cover off of the computer area and noticed a clear piece of wire with a green resistor looking thing connecting the two yellow wires. The clear piece was hot and the green resistor was burning black and melting. Can anyone help me with what I did, or am doing wrong?? I have an extra one of those clear pieces with the green thing in the middle but when I put it on and hit the key and gas, it starts getting hot too so I immediately disconnected it. I checked the square fuse on the computer board wiring and it looks fine. HELLLLLLP! Oh yes, and another key piece of info I forgot. Yes I am stupid but when I initially was doing the white and orange wire removal, I forgot to unplug the charger so it was going too when all of this was happening. I have it disconnected now but still having the same problem. Is the hot on the clear piece normal? I wouldn't think so and the cart still does nothing when I try to reconnect it and push the gas. |

Re: 2005 Precedent wiring help
It looks like you have the motor wired correctly.
When disconnecting the batteries, disconnect the negative first then the positive. To reconnect its the opposite; positive first then the negative. Sorry, I'm not that good a trouble shooter - yet, so I can't help with the rest. Dave |

Re: 2005 Precedent wiring help
Yes i do. when I test each end of the yellow wire without the resistor piece in the middle, I get 25 or so. The problem is, I have no idea what is normal or what to start troubleshooting.
It only appears to be getting hot when I put the F/R switch in F. Any ideas are appreciated. |

Re: 2005 Precedent wiring help
I know little to nothing about Precedent carts, However I do know that for carts
with factory wiring reverse is only 50% of forward , this may account for the Forward heat issue ! |
