lost lock nut on valve adjustment
one of my intake valves is so worn that the adjustment was let all the way out. well i adjusted the valves and i either left lock nut loose and it back off or i left it off before i replaced valve cover. i guess my question is. if the nut backed off adjustment screw where did it go? i have ran cart 15 mins and it runs fine. what would yall do to find out if it was in motor? i looked thru head from top with flashlight and cant find it. any suggestions please.

NEw one on me.... I guess you could pull the filter screen on the driver side of the block and hope it comes out with the oil?

Re: lost lock nut on valve adjustment
I would say chances are slim you'll get it out through the filter. sounds like it's time for new valves so your probably going to be pulling the engine apart anyway.

So you don't think it would have reached the crankcase, JON?

Re: lost lock nut on valve adjustment
sure it would have, there's a couple of big humps in the bottom of the case that probably wont let it go over when draining the oil. that's all

Yeah, I was thinking in terms of doing a little magnetized fishing

Re: lost lock nut on valve adjustment
the way the oil feeds to the filter make that prospect unlikely, it would have to be dumb luck if you were to get it.
