Default valve lapping

I have a 4 cycle marathon 295cc. Cylinder head is in good shape. Im replacing valves and wonder if I can just lap the valves, or will I need to cut the valve seats. The price seems to be high for a cutter tool

You could try it and see what pattern you get. If it's not too wide it will probably be okay.

yes just lap them! The seats are hard & the exhaust valves are to but not the intake valves those are soft and go first.

all replacement valves should be harden. also it wasn't to many years that they used the non harden valves in those engines. something like 94-00. i'm not sure those are the exact years but it's real close
