2-84 gas ezgo

I have rebuilt the start/gen [turned the commutator-new brushes ]and it starts and goes back & forward fine but is not charging the battery. Have tested all over and only get 12 volts. I should be getting up to 14.2. I have seen a mention about polorizing but cannot find it again. ----thanks for the help.-----#2--Is there a carb avaliable for the Macuni carb. I see only new carbs.

Not real keen on them ol' two strokers but it sounds possibly like a regulator issue.. Maybe? As far as the carb kit, check out the site sponsors, I'm sure there is one out there....MMT
