By passing the OBC on 96 DS club Car.
Hi there people. I mostly just lurk on this site. I am amazed at the knowledge available here though! I have been asked to help a local Church with the cart they gave to their beloved retired, but now handicapped preacher. They will pay for parts and I am going to wind up probably donating a lot of my time I expect. Can anyone tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of removing the OBC from this 96 Club Dar DS cart and installing the automatic timer that is referred to on this forum? Does anybody have a brand name and a part number for the 48 volt timer setup? Thanks for any information you can share. Gene Davis

If the OBC is bad, tell the Rev to cough up the money for a replacement.. The OBC system will charge the batteries better, and give them a longer life than using a flat timed charge..

Re: By passing the OBC on 96 DS club Car.
if its not a reagan cart very simple.........on the solenoid small post with yellow wire on it.....................get a good 10 gage jumper wire and jump from that post with the yellow wire to the negitive post on #6 battery that the rear battery on driver side and your done................only drawback is the charger won,t shut off you,ll have to keep track of charging times..............the other option as long as cart is running is bypass the low voltage sensor in the charger........not a hard job but more involved than the jumper wire with same results charger will not shut off....................if it has a bad OBC the best thing is just replace it if your gonna do the work your looking at 1 hour tops and under 200.00 dollars in parts unless you can find a good used one OBC that is...............................................8 )
