18g would be fine. There is (virtually) no draw on a voltage meter circuit.

If you are referring to the state of charge meter, I used 14 ga. to the battery pack from the meter.

Typically this type of meter has a very very minimal draw, you may need 50 of them to register a draw on the pack... careful with that one it is not water resistant or good for 48v as stated. Charge voltage exceeds rating at 48v... Keep it dry.

I see my 36v chargers reach 45+ volts and my 48v chargers 63+ volts. Keeping your meter dry or even out of the serious condensation could prove challenging. That is why I use an industrial meter that is poured in epoxy. My test meter has sat out in the rain for 6 months... we got a record 13 inches in 48 hours and the meter still works like a champ.... Which ever meter you use it is fun to watch on the charge and discharge. My batteries never had it better = no more guessing when to recharge. No more accidental deep discharge or poor performance. Every enthusiast ought to have one.
