Gas or Electric....that is the question...
Hi All,
I have sold my 85 gas EZ-Go and am looking at buying something newer. I am just wondering what way to go, gas or electric. Can someone steer me in the right direction and give me some positives and negatives of each? Cost wise and power wise as well. Any help is much appreciated Thanks |

Re: Gas or Electric....that is the question...
Scotty, expecting poor Grinds to read 51 pages of smack between you, spriddle, ruready, and gonorman. That's pretty sadistic.
I had a sparky last year, and have a gasser now. For me, I loved the quiet and smoothness of the electric, but the battery cost is what kills me. I can rebuild my entire engine (top and bottom) every four years for what the replacement batteries cost. Plus, with less weight and no batteries, I don't get problems I had with my electric like: - Broken rear leaf springs - Corroding battery trays Honestly, I spent as much time cleaning contacts, troubleshooting, and cleaning off corrosion (plus refilling batteries) with my sparky as I do in keeping my gasser going. To me, it's gas. However, guessing Grinds will get a lot of these posts as he's in the gas forum. |

Re: Gas or Electric....that is the question...
good to know, I appreciate the posts. I didn't try to but it shows up that I have one of these posts under all categories, gas, electric and club car.
I am actually looking at a 04 club car precedent electric for $1600. Was wondering if it was worth going to electric or staying with gas, doesn't matter to me just wanted to get the opinion of others that have been through these stages already. |

batteries-600.00
electric motor-800.00-1000.00 computer board- 1200.00 charger-400.00 With the cart plugged in and you take a lightning hit, it can wipe out any or all of it. That is what made me go to gas. |

I'd go gas, you can speed them up for free, you just adjust the governor, where as you'll spend $600 just to get an extra 5 mph from an electric. Also, it's less maintenance and running costs. Also, gas cars actually aren't as much louder than electrics as people tend to think.

Re: Gas or Electric....that is the question...
I have had both. If you want to run around the yard and stay close to home go sparky. If you like to take long rides go gas. I have a gas now and I love it. It would be hard for me to go back with electric. Both have maintenance, but I think less with gas. Plus we make 20 mile round trips with ours. I wouldn't trust a sparky to do that.
