Default Yamaha G2 choke and go.... or not

Hello all.......

Just got an old Yamaha GOlf Cart. Not sure what year but I know it is a G2 engine. When I first got it it would turn over but not crank. I changed out the spark plug, fuel and air filter, and clean the carb. Also checked the battery. (it was good). I have spark and gas coming from the fuel pump. Sprayed starter fluid and showed signs of life. So.... I removed the old gas and replaced. Now it will crank and go (some with a sputter), ONLY if I keep the chock pulled out. I feel like I am almost there with this thing.......help please!!! THANK YOU!!

Well, Not too sure as i am VERY new myself buddy. But with my preacher's G1 they are telling me it's the crank seals causing a loss of vac. Now, that is also with ALL the research I did on here to so i am very confident that they are telling me the truth! IF you will use the search function like i did I am sure you will find out the same buddy. Good luck !!

carb jet (orfice) is plugged , pulling the choke makes it suck more fuel making up for the plugged jet

Now that does make sense..BUT when i posted you guys told me no...it was the crank seals. And trust me, MY carb is/was perfectly clean. Not a single jet was left untouched. I soaked them in my cleaner/vibe for a half hour and after doing so she came out looking BRAND new.. then again with compressed air and brake cleaner.

In my case i sure as heck HOPE it's the crank seals..lol. I already ordered them!

isn't this a 4 stroke engine? crank seals are needed for a 2stroke engine because of the way they work

WOW!! THanks folks! QUestion..... would a carb rebuid do the trick or should I just spend the 100 and get a new one? Can I get to the jet to clean it?
