1995 Club Car Electric Battery Charging
Hello All,
I have a 95 Club Car Electric 48 volt that I keep at our lake house. We charged it two weeks ago and then used it lightly, maybe for 20 minutes max. It then sat until this weekend. On Saturday night I plugged it in to charge as I usually do. On Sunday morning I checked it and after 10 hours it was still charging and showing a charge rate of about 8 amps. This after it should have been almost fully charged? The charger never stays on overnight? I measured the pack voltage while charging and it was 59.4v. I unplugged the charger and the following were my voltages: Pack - 53.2 1 - 8.86 2 - 8.84 3 - 8.85 4 - 8.86 5 - 8.84 6 - 8.83 Are these readings normal and indicative of a full charge? The batteries were replaced last spring and the electrolyte levels looked good. I want to be sure I don't have any charging issues. |

Re: 1995 Club Car Electric Battery Charging
Some charging cycles can take up to 16 hours before charger is finished and shuts down . . my last few hours will be around 5 amps and 63 volts as the charger attempts to equalize the batteries. . .

Re: 1995 Club Car Electric Battery Charging
The batteries also lose charge just over time. It's best to charge them right after use, but sometimes this just can't be done. Your charge time and voltage sound pretty normal. The voltage readings will also drop over time. Here's a chart for state of charge. To use this wait 8 to 12 hours after your charger has finished.
