I haven't taken my transaxle apart yet, but the way it is marketed is that there is an expectation that the internal disc brake is supposed to last a long time... making me think that it may not be easy to get the pads.. and once you get them, it's a pretty serious job to disassemble the transaxle. I'd check with your local Yamaha Cart dealer.

That said, I've also seen some people get fooled thinking the brakes are not working well because there is now a little play between where the disc is and the wheels (in the rear diff) - making people think the brake isn't working well when you compare it to a cart that has brakes right at the wheels... just something to consider.

There has also been an updated brake cable to replace a possible "stretched" stock cable. I heard the life of the internal brakes should be 100 years

100 years wow time flys. We have been doing brakes jobs on drives for about a year now milage on the PDA is around 20,000-25,000 miles. The disks inside just get to thin. But you r right about the cable it does stretch alot about a 1/2inch.

not that hard to do. Takes about 3hrs if you been inside one before and that is from start to finish (off cart and back on cart) a little longer if new at it.

Great info (fellow Yamaha Tech), If still under warranty, make YAMAHA pay for a new transaxle

we do make them pay. But if you need to do one at owners cost its a nice price tag not cheep owners are not to happy when they get that bill of $355.00 and only $120.00 is lobor cost.

couldnt be too bad in one? as i am a former diesel tech so im guessing i should be able to hand it unless these things are that tricky but i figure while im in there might as well through a gear set in to no reason to waste my time in there thanks guys great help

we do the gears on every cart. They come out to the brakes anyhow. Just watch how it comes apart it can be tricky. But over all not to hard. Skill level 6-7 (1 easy 10 its a bitch) lol
