Default DS to Precedent Roof Mod

I came across a precedent roof and a few uprights for $40.00 so I grabbed them. Had some free time to play this week so I decide to mod it for my 2000 DS. This is what i started with (very old pic) a one layer molded p-o-s roof

While I was at it I decided to paint the alum uprights with some black hammer tone and add hinges to get to fit in my cargo trailer

Got some .090 Alum and cut out some "H" and bent them up to make the hinges

The front up rights did not line up with the roof so i cut 2 8" pieces and added some alum angle to help with the offset and the back I drilled new holes

All in all it came out pretty good and got about 6" to 7" drop on the roof line (fits great in the trailer)

Nice job on the roof mod. I see your cc had the same pos roof i have. I love the cart, but hate the ugly a#% cheap factory roof. I'll keep an eye open for what i have in mind. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah my 96 CC had one of those flimsy old roofs.
What a terrible design!!!
The new DS roofs and precedent roofs are light years better.

Jake, Looks like you changed all the bracketing roof and windshield? Did you pick all this up used? This is the exact look im going for. Not trying to be picky, Just realy like my cart but hate the looks of the top. If you have time please run through your process. Thanks a bunch, Todd

No, I sold the 96. That is my 2002 DS.
In 2000.5 they switched over to that style roof. I agree, it is MUCH better than the original style; not only looks better, but is much stronger.
The good news is that the newer roof and supports will bolt right onto pre 2000.5 carts. I am sure you could find a roof and supports used somewhere.
Good luck.
