Default What is this linkage?

On my 1990 Marathon there is linkage that attaches at the carb and runs forward to the coil area and then down to the right side of the engine. I connects near where the oil injection oil line connects to maybe a pump but I dont see how this linkage makes any adjustment to the engine when moved. Anyone know what I am talking about here? Thanks!

"...then down to the right side of the engine." That sounds a lot like the governor assembly but if you could provide a cell phone pic it would help... .

that has a rod attached to it from the throttle lever at the carb,it operates the oil pump. When its pushed forward it increases oil volume from the oil pump. I see the rod is missing, keep it pushed all the way forward until you can replace it, or remove the pump and premix you fuel and oil.

I premix my fuel now and removed the linkage. Guess I can remove the whole pump. Already pulled the oil tank. Thanks kersh.

And you will need to replace the banjo bolt on the inlet elbow with a 6mm screw or cut the oil pipe and block it with a screw and some mastic otherwise your engine will start to suck air.
