Re: 85 Ezgo gas
The only thing that I don't understand is that I have tried 2 starter/generators and I get the same problem.

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
Have you played with the starter/gen switch while pressing the gas-pedal?I've seen them where the contacts are fussy and you need to hit the perfect spot for them to work.Is the wiring correct at the starter/gen. and the F/R switch?

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
No, I haven't played with the starter/generator. I printed off a wiring diagram and traced every wire and they seem to be in the right place.

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
Measure between A1 and F2 in forward position then A2 and F2 in reverse and see what you get. F2 is always +12vdc when the solenoid is energized. A1/A2 are connected to ground through the fwd/rev switch depending on the position of the switch. A1= forward, A2= Reverse. F1 from the starter goes back to the 'A' terminal on the fwd/rev switch.

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
When I measure between A1 and F2, I get 1.3 volts. Between A2 and F2 I get 1.3 volts.

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
Is that with the pedal pressed and solenoid pulled in?
Do you have a large wire going from the negative side of the battery to the 'C' terminal on the fwd/rev switch? |

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
Yes, that is with the pedal down and the solenoid in. There is a red wire going from terminal C to the ground on the cart. The wire looks like the other one going to the starter.

Re: 85 Ezgo gas
Terminal 'C' should go back to the battery ground, not the frame. It could be connected to the frame if the frame is correctly grounded to the negative battery terminal. Check the voltage between Terminal 'C' and battery ground when the pedal is pressed.
If you are measuring 12vdc between F2 and the negative side of the battery when the pedal is pressed, and not between A1 and F2 in Forward or A2 and F2 in Reverse when the pedal is pressed, the battery ground is not making it through the fwd/rev switch. |
