Battery cables
Might be a stupid question BUT, do all your battery cables running between the batteries have to be the same length? Thanks.

Re: Battery cables
No, You generally want to use as short a run as possible but the length will vary.

Re: Battery cables
Don't make them the minimum length (Just long enough) as it makes it hard to move or adjust. To long and they get in the way of the cell caps.

Re: Battery cables
I have been reading about battery cables and replacing the 6's with 4 gauge cable on our stock 2007 PDS. Is there any real gain with all the rest being stock electronics?
I plan to keep the electric side of the cart stock. When the weather gets warm i will remove all the batteries for a major cleaning and inspection of under seat area including the battery cables but if they look good after cleaning I will just reinstall the OEM cables if no concrete gain can be expected from moving to 4 gauge. There are several internet seller of EZGO cable sets and the prices vary a lot. Any buying experiences with any vendor? |

Re: Battery cables
You might feel a slight bit of torque increase but on a stock set up if everything is running good and and staying cool there is no real advantage in larger cables.

Re: Battery cables
See if any of your cables are warm after pulling a hill @ full peddle. If they are then you are losing power to heat due to wire resistance. I noticed heat on my cables doing the same on a stock setup.

Re: Battery cables
Thanks. Tomorrow I will go for a spin and check for heat build up. It is to be about 45 so that will be cool enough to feel any change.
Wait a minute i have a very nice temp gun so I can log several points before and after use for more concrete info cable by cable and battery by battery. |

Re: Battery cables
#6 cables have a higher voltage drop than #4. Voltage drop goes up with current draw. This equates to power loss i.e. reduced range.
