I have a chance to buy cart but it has no power. It is ezgo. battries are ok what am i looking at to make cart run at normal cart speed. Is this a major cost or can I do this myself? I can fumble my way thru most work if i have some information. Thanks Don

What year is your cart? We need a little more information so we can help. If you don't know the year, give us the numbers off of the plates in the glove boxes. The one we need usually starts with a letter and is 3 to 5 numbers long.

#1 old style body with wrecked fender 01L95
Maybe this will help to see how to get speed up to normal.

#6 is a 1998 Plastic body - Rounded body
#11 is a 1993 Metal body - Square body
#1 is a 1995 metal body - Rounded body?

Rusty I am thinking about buying the 98 and the 95 it is square body. I will put a box on 95 for my wife to carry her flower pots.She can also use to carry yard limbs and items that she trims to burn pile.What I need to know how do I get the 98 cart up to normal speed. It is much slower than the older carts.Can I change parts out from other carts or Is there a simpler way to get 98 cart faster? If I change the 6 volt battries out for 3 12 volt battries what do I lose If anything?

Don't put 12 volt batteries in it............ It will soon become "good money well lost" because of performance.

Check all the batteries for water. They are full when the water lever is about a quarter inch above the plates inside the holes.

Test the batteries for voltage. Should be just above 6 volts if they are good or above 36 volts for the whole battery system.

Tug on the battery cables to make sure they are tight. If they move, they need attention. Tightem them. Check cable ends to make sure they are not corroded. Severly Corroded cables have resistance and wont allow the full Current to pass. On older cables, it's a good idea to remove them one at a time and clean them with a wire brush till shiney. Battery posts too.

Something is odd about the 1995 being a "square" body. 95's are rounded unless it's a special model. Rounded bodies are the newer ones. Plastic bodies are the newest ones.

Thanks Rusty I haven't purchased these carts. I have a 72 volt Ford Th!nk cart that I am working on now.I hope to get it out of my barn this week so I have room for these other carts.I will have more info after i purchase.My question about the 3 12 volts was my wife will use around the yard and power or distance is not a issue.I was qurious and might upgrade to 48 volts what do i get into if i do this?

Rusty I have my Think working I now have to put it back together. That will happen this long week end. I will go to look at the ez go carts and decide which ones i will buy. In the long run I will sell my Ford Think and just go with ezgo carts.If I understand I can get more speed in ezgo with out much cost.Am I correct? I only want about 12 to 14 mph.
