Electric club car stopped working 1998
Here is what I have.
The cart stopped in the yard. Batteries are fully charged. All wiring looks to be connected. Attempted reset of computer but it took 5 minutes for reverse beeper to stop with the accelorater pedal depressed. Left it that way for another 5 minutes. Cart still does not even make a sound other than the reverse buzzer when it is placed in reverse. Jumped the solinoid and still nothing. Jumped key switch to confim it works but no change in results. Looking for more guidence. Thanks |

Re: Electric club car stopped working 1998
I have the exact same symptoms on my 1996 DS, so I have not opened a new thread, and hope an expert will chime in for both of us.
Same sudden failure while driving. Batteries: 51v No click at solenoid upon depressing pedal. Jumped solenoid, no go. (jacked up rear axle) Swapped solenoid for known good one, no help. All fuses good. Reverse buzzer does buzz. No loose or broken wires found. Performed OBC reset procedure to no avail. Have not jumped the motor terminals yet, but will later today. I cannot see the logic of a motor failure in this manner. Seems very unlikely. Is that a reasonable conclusion? I am leaning toward failure of something inside the rectangular black box that is attached to the accelerator pedal (potentiometer ?), under the cart. I have never had one of these apart to know what points of failure are in there. Seems like a wire or contact point suddenly broke loose. |

Re: Electric club car stopped working 1998
Sure hope its not, for your sake - but I had an identical failure last year (luckily on hole #18 and I got towed in). After running a ton of measurements and tests, it turned out to be the controller. Mine is old ('96) and a Regen with the old GE "T" shaped controller (hard to come by). Bought a rebuilt for about $200 which fixed the problem. I found a sketchy connection between two of my batteries, and I'm guessing the arcing may have brought on the failure.

Re: Electric club car stopped working 1998
Good news for me. A mud dobber had a nest in the black box attached to the accelerator pedal. Blew it out and tapped it and works fine. Voltage everywhere it is needed and the cart runs great.
