![]() I know I`ve read about this here before but can`t find it. Checked my oil today in my 95 CC. Overfull and has a strong smell of gas. What causes this and how do I stop it? I have a tach on it and at 3850 RPM the oil light comes on. Never did that before either. I have the rev limiter disabled and governor spring tied for more speed. Highest RPM I`ve hit was 4820 RPM. Don`t want to kill it and only at that RPM for 10 to 15 seconds max I try to keep it at a max of 4200 to 4400 RPM.

![]() Usually gas in the crankcase is due to trash in the carb. bowl causing the float not to operate properly and allowing too much gas to overflow into the carb. and dump over into the crankcase. I have also seen dirty fuel pumps cause this as well.

![]() just like trash in the carb you can get it in fuel pump, i would suspect the float in the carb either dirt or the pin that holds the float in place worked its way out enough that the float is cocked in there......i see that all the time and even more with gov. unhooked the engine vibrates more than it should.........you can take the fuel pump apart and clean it up just be careful with gaskets and the order they are in there in..............................

![]() If the float was stuck, jammed, etc. would the cart still run good? This is the best running cart I`ve ever been on. I`ve never had one that will just putter at low speed and not buck or bolt, just a slow purr and move REAL slow till I really step on it. Now it doesn`t throw you back in the seat hard but it does just take off like you`d think it should. Just one of my reasons for thinking it isn`t the float. But I`ll tear into it and check.

But, Geez...4820??? ![]() IMO... @ 4820 rpm's on a stock FE290 is just asking for trouble, I don't care for how long! (at least, now I know why your oil light is coming on...) my 2 cents (not like it'll matter!) ![]() |

![]() Yea I know (my bad)..thats WAY to high RPM. I`m going to back off the ties a wee bit to keep it under 4400 RPM. It actually scared me a wee bit when I looked at the tack and saw it up that high. BUT now the oil light comes on at 3850 RPM. It wasn`t on when I hit the high RPM. I`ve kept it under 4400 ever since.
