I prefer a good quality crimp, but in any event, these are the kind of solder pellets they are referring to:

As far as that link from Trojan, I can only imagine was produced by their marketing department to convince folks to not use a "hammer" type crimper. There is just not enough information about what You are seeing to pass the muster as a technical document.
