91 Ezgo transmission problem

When I stepped on the accelerator this weekend, my 91 marathon went 3 feet and the rear transmission(?) went out. It spins fine in the crankcase, but won't move the rear wheels. Is this an easy fix or do I need to redo it. It looks like the end of the line for my baby!

Buy new hub for the drivers side and replace it.
Cost about $45.00 around here for the hub. Pretty simple job to do.

jack up the cart hold the brake and look at the rear wheels were the nut holds the hub on see which nut is spinning it is stripped replace it and keep on riding

Do I need to take the casing apart or do I take off the wheel?

If hub is bad replace with Ezgo hub rather than after market ( low quality ) replacements. You will save money in the long run if you do.

I have to argue that point. I don't think it matters anymore of which one you buy. I have bought 3 axles over the last year and all of them have twisted off @ the bearing. They all were Ezgo axles supposedly.befor this I would have agreed with you, now I'm not so sure it really matter's anymore.

ANDY4639--If You got axles from Ezgo dealer did you check and see that it was a Ezgo part number tag or numbered markings? More and more I'm seeing parts coming from dealers, ( of all brands ) with after market sub standard parts? I'm unable to confirm that they were represented as genuine EZGO parts, only that they came from Ezgo dealers? I personally will not accept any questionable parts.
I purchased a Club Car Front Spring the other day and refused it because it had chinese lettering tag on it and NO CC part number? I understand that many manufacturers are making the switch to enlarge their profit on manuafcturing and replacement parts, but there used to be a LAW that any foreign parts had to be marked as such but this seems to be going by the way? The only persons being cheated are the customer who accepts such as being alright. If we dont stop this trend who will, surely not our GOVERNMENT?
I'm sure that there are some dealers, etc are letting GREED take over for the extra monetary profit involved? I went to a small independant cart repair shop the other day and he had parts books written in some oriental language, but with pictures and prices in very plain english??

Wow. 3 axles! We always have the hubs strip first...I thought that was the design, the easier, cheaper part breaks first. That must be the 72v model to torque that hard.

The stock hubs seem to have gotten better in recent years...They don't strip as often as 4 years ago.!

12 years of stock carts I've seen 2 stripped axles, both in the differential.

I couldn't agree with you more. Sorry wasn't trying to make a arguement just see the same thing as you mention about saying it's something but find out it isn't later. Yea 72 volts puts a lot of strain on parts if playing hard with it. Frame has been welded twice to beef it up.
