Default I love the smell of melted plastic in the evening!

Well the new controller and solenoid finally made it in yesterday (Alltrax 4844), that's good! Installed it all without a hitch, that's good. Drove it around a minute to check it out, good too! Pulled it back in the garage and the dreaded smell of melted plastic puts a damper on the upgrade dance, that can't be good.

I guess a few more amps were a few too many for my F/R switch. Reverse buzzer is toast and 1 terminal lug changed colors!

At least now I have an excuse to upgrade more!

Yep, bad connection on the lugs.

After further review....

I pulled the F/R assembly and it looks about like I thought it would. The top post is bent (read melted) and the buzzer is shot, but I'll chalk one up to experience! Now the question is, rebuild the F/R assembly or buy a whole new one?

I'm leaning towards the rebuild with new HD buss bars, only because I'll have more leverage for buying the new cables with less resistance! Any pros or cons here?

Roady

Tell me if I am wrong here, but if you upgraded your controller and not your F&R switch, it is not good... You need to install a heavy duty F&R switch to handle the extra amps. Hope this helps Smee.
