EZGo 36 volt battery charger
We just purchased a Ezgo Txt. It is a 1984 cart....the charger keeps turning off during the charge.....my question is, will any ezgo 36 volt charger work on this cart? We have access to a charger that was used on a 1989 36 volt cart. Just need to know if it is worth the effort to go and get it or not.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
If it works on the 89 it will work on the 84. You shouldn't have to change the charger plug. Why do you think the 84 charger is bad?

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
I think the batteries may be a little old. The kids rode around for a while today and it almost completely died. We plugged it up to the charger and it will stay on for about 5 minutes and then it trips at the charger and we have to reset the button on it. Any ideas?

Many times, that is a diode problem.

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
Thank you. We are new to the cart business. Do you think it still could be the batteries; it only stayed charged for about an hour. Do you know how to determine the age of Trojan batteries?
Thanks. |

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
Trojan batteries will have a code stamped into the Negative post. C8 would be March 2008.

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
definitely check the batts, check the batts individually and check the whole pack, under load. you may find that you have a batt that is shorted out

Re: EZGo 36 volt battery charger
So, would H5 mean 2005? Would they already be toast? I guess I need to get one of those volt meter thingies like the rest of your sparkies. Thanks for the info.
