Default Need Advice - Adding Lights and stereo

Getting ready to hook cart up with some lights and a stereo.
What gauge wiring should be used for the lights?
Do the headlights need a relay?

It would mainly depend on how many watts your light will be. If say...under 55 watts or so you should be fine with just a switch and NO relay. If you have some big power hogs then you'll likely need a relay. 14-16 Gauge should be fine...again, if you have some power hogs you might step it up.

Roady is mostly correct. Here are the simple calcs:

Headlights and tail lights should be in the neighborhood of 150 watts.
Using a voltage converter:
At 36v this is a 150/36= 4.1 amp draw, at 48v it is a 150/48= 3.1 amp draw.
Connected to a 12v battery:
At 12v this is a 150/12= 12.5 amp draw

Maximum draw on a stereo is 200 watts.
Using a voltage converter:
At 36v this is a 200/36= 5.5 amp draw, at 48v it is a 150/48= 4.1 amp draw.
Connected to a 12v battery:
At 12v this is a 200/12= 16.6 amp draw

Using a voltage converter together:
At 36v: 4.1+5.5=9.6 amps, at 48v: 3.1+4.1=7.2 amps.
Connected to a 12v battery:
At 12v: 12.5+16.6=29.1 amps

With 14ga wire, the max distance round trip for 10 amps is 15 feet with a 3% voltage drop.
With 12ga wire, the max distance round trip for 16 amps is 15 feet with a 3% voltage drop.

That's some good info right there...thanks Dougmcp!
Glad I went with the 25 Amp converter.
