posible controler problems
My 1999 ez-go quit running. I disconnected the positive battery cable and pulled the itc cover and checked the solenoid it was ok. when I go to hook up positive battery cable back I get a lot of sparks. Any suggestion.

Re: posible controler problems
What is an itc? Do you mean the ITS in the pedal box? Is this cart a Series or DCS style electronics package?

Re: posible controler problems
What were you doing when it "quit"? What upgrades does it have? Age of batteries? If the solenoid clicks when the pedal is pressed, then the pedal micro is good. Have you checked to see if the wires on the motor are still connected? One could have burned off...

Plugged charger in last night, and when I tried to move it this mourning it won't go. The battery's are 2006 and checks out good on volts and underload.

Re: posible controler problems
OK - but when you step on the pedal, it clicks? Jack up the rear end (tires off ground) and jump your solenoid LARGE CONTACTS only. Does the cart run when you do this?

I believe I have have a dead short, I don't know that if the control box goes bad and would still hold a charge which might cause this.

Re: posible controler problems
You definitely need to chase all your wires to look for possible wear and being grounded. One area to ALWAYS check is where the motor wires wrap around the back batteries and turn towards the motor. But if it ran yesterday, plugged in and charged last night and is dead in the water today, then there are a few things to check, but jumping the solenoid (if it clicks) just to make sure the solenoid ins't the problem would be the first this I'd look at, after checking all your connections and cables...

Re: posible controler problems
When I remove the small wire harness with the wide white connector from the top of the control box I don't get any sparks. Also on the volt meter I'm still getting some volts out of the control box with the positive cable disconnected from the Battery's.

Re: posible controler problems
The controller will hold a charge - BE CAREFUL!
What does the cart do with everything hooked up? Solenoid click? Jump the solenoid and does what? Voltage reading into the controller is what? Voltage reading coming out of the controller is what? |
