First thing check and make sure the battery is fully charged. Next thing make sure all connections are tight and clean. I would undo all your grounds sand all connection including where it touches the frame they need to be clean.

Re: 89 E Z GO 2 stroke
Particularly the ground strap from the common ground point to the engine block. If all that checks out and you still have the same symptoms get the back end up on stands and jump the two large terminals on the solenoid. If it cranks at the correct speed your solenoid has corroded or burned terminals. If you do need to replace it do not be tempted to buy a automotive starter solenoid as they are not designed to run as constant duty devices.

Re: 89 E Z GO 2 stroke
racin161 thank you for saying that. You make it all worth while man.
Spoiltrotten Did you see that? dave 1963. Were you born in 63? So was my Ford. Did you short out the solenoid? There are other things to check first. Dave Last edited by Dave Box; 03-27-2011 at 06:50 PM.. Reason: sp |

Re: 89 E Z GO 2 stroke
Is the starter turning slow or are you watching the clutch?Starter-belt may be slipping.Another thing is the contacts in the F/R switch.try wiggling the shifter while trying to start it.Mine does it occasionally in reverse.Hope this helps.
