Look on ebay, there are several fleet models in your area for 1250

Interesting information, however it's incorrect. i2 is nothing more than a body style identification, it does NOT refer to electronics in any way. A Precedent i2 cart can be an IQ system, just as any previous Precedent. The system that AllTrax is calling the "i2" is actually called "Excel" The Excel system can ONLY be found on i2 carts. An i2 cart is identified by a slightly different dash than earlier models. The serial number will be located on the passenger side kick panel rather than inside the dash compartment. i2 carts also will have all of the electronics located behind the battery compartment, rather than in between the batteries. An IQ Precedent golf car can be identified by a "PQ" serial number whether it's a 1st generation Precedent or an i2, it doesn't matter. An Excel system can be identified by a "PH" serial. Someone needs to inform Alltrax of their misworded information.

Wow, very interesting. I wonder why they would not do the research as it seems like they have just cut in to 4 years of controller sales for the Precedent.

I have no doubt their new Excel controllers will work with the Excel system, but the way they've got it worded makes it sound as if the IQ car was no longer in production when the Excel came out in 2008. The IQ car was in production until 2012. Currently the only IQ cars being built are DS, all Precedents are now Excel, but that didn't happen until this year.

As a consumer, why would you choose one over the other?

My guess is that new cart sales are predominately fleet sales to golf courses so they probably cater to their needs/wants . . .

Increased motor braking is the only added feature. As an individual consumer it wouldn't matter much one way or the other. As a golf course, Excel would be preferred especially on hilly courses due to the increased braking and also the compatibility with Club Car's Visage system.
