Default Rebuild starter

Is it worth rebuilding the starter on a g16a or should I just buy a new one? I found a place to buy brushes but am not sure that is all that is wrong with it.
When I mash the accel. I hear the solenoid click but the engine will not turn over. If I have the gas pressed and hit the starter motor with a hammer it will then spin for a second that's why I think it is the starter motor

I agree with RSP. There is a rebuild kit on E-bay that gets you new brushes and new bearings for around $23 bucks shipped. If you are going to take it apart anyway, I would also replace the bearings (unless the armature is toast). Make sure you clean up the commutator with fine sandpaper before re-assembling. E-bay link is below. Good luck - RAY

Thanks again for the info on the starter. Got the rebuild kit and installed it today. The bearings were a good idea. Put it back on and was riding by this evening. Now I have to figure out the spark plug issue.

Thanks.

Great to hear it worked out for you. You're really a fast worker (man with a mission). Let us know if you need help with the spark plug issue. RAY

I own a tow company and we are slow right now.

My boot pulls off my plug wire some tires when on switch back hills. I can't get the wire out of the metal part of the igniter. I just put rtv on the wire boot and the wire. Gonna see if that works.

Other wise I am ready for some trails and a lot warmer weather.
