Cart quit running
I had to install a new FNR shift linkage on my 2006 Clays Car as the one from the previous was wore out. Got it loosely installed, switched from forward to reverse to make sure it worked. It worked as it should, but when I fully tightened the nut on the shift linkage it completely quit working. Not sure what that would have done, but I cant figure it out. Any suggestions?

Re: Cart quit running
When you say you got it "loosely" installed and checked it, that it worked OK....do you mean the cart ran in forward and ran in reverse?
Wait!!!! The Clays is a gas cart!! It's an "evil" gas cart!! Oh my!! Well, all I can say is take a look at the manual at this link http://mikes-golf-carts.com/wp-conte...Gas-Manual.pdf and see if you have put your's back together the same way. (Go to page G-1 on this PDF file) Dave |

Re: Cart quit running
The linkage can be a bit tricky to get properly adjusted. If you have not moved the F/R switch, it is a little less complicated but still can be a pain.
Put the F/R in neutral, (no contacts touching). Put the lever in neutral. Make your initial adjustments and get the arm, (rod), set so both parts stay in their positions. Tighten the rod enough to actually activate the F/R. Your choice, forward or reverse. Check to see the F/R contacts are making solid, squared on each other, contact. Make any adjustments, to the rod, necessary to accomplish that. With the rod secured, try throwing it to the other direction. Again, check for good, square contact. Once you have the contact, try to drive it, or just move the cart. If you have it right, it should move in both directions. If not, keep adjusting until both directions give the proper contact. You may have to get good contact in one direction then move the F/R to achieve the proper contact in the other direction. The point is, good solid contact. |

Re: Cart quit running
I don't think that is it. The only thing I can think of is my key switch went out. My headlights quit working last week and they are controlled by the key switch. Then this happened. My factory state of charge meter won't come on when the key is on and I don't here the solenoid clicking when the key is on and I press the accelerator. Does this sound like the key switch?

Re: Cart quit running
How would I wire to bypass key just to see if that's the issue?
