Default Mount Components to Body or Mountng Panel?

I'm gonna be setting up the reducer and associated parts in teh battery well under the seat, I was wondering if it's best to mount your stuff directly to the fiberglass body or to maybe a panel that non-permanently mounts to the fiberglass body. I'm sorta reluctant to drill holes. Could I use a piece of treated lumber as a mounting board, then velcro to the body? Suggestions?

Depending on the load the reducer will see, it would probably be better to mount it on a metal panel, for heat dissipation purposes.

Reducers can get very hot, when under load. Heat sinking it will extend its life, and keep whatever you bolt it to from discoloring.
You can pick up some scrap aluminum sheet and make a support, or find a metal body panel on which to mount it.

If this is for a TXT, it is common to mount the converter/reducer and fuse block if used to the metal plate between the frame rails on the drivers side under the seat next to the batteries. Not necessary and I would think not desirable to mount stuff like this to the body. Someone will have a picture if needed I'm sure.

FWIW: On older 36v TXTs the factory riveted the fuse block to the plastic splash guard (fender well) on the battery side if cart equipped with factory installed lights.
