Default EZGO Marathon Motor Removal

How would one remove the motor from a 79 EZGO 36 volt? I need to have a repair done and while I'm at it I'm going to take it to the shop to have it rewound.

I had to disassemble the motor, removing the rear end plate, stator, and armature as an assembly. The front plate is bolted to the rear axle with 4 bolts in the inside. You remove and save those 4 bolts, then put the front back on the motor and attach it with the long bolts removed to disassemble it. Reverse that to re-install it. Do not let the armature pull out of the stator or you'll have more issues putting the brushes back onto the commutator of the armature. Let the motor shop deal with that. Reinstall is easier, no worry about the armature pulling out when you are pushing it in... Have them put in new brushes and bearings while they have it.

Looks like I'll be doing this soon too.

My 1984 is having issues. Motor spins but not movement, neither one of the hub nuts are spinning either. I'm hoping it is the keyway or splines on the input shaft vs. the splines on the spyder gears.

any suggestions are appreciated!

TIA
