Default Stock motor voltage

I’m about to get new batteries for my cart. I will be using it for hunting and am thinking about going from 36v to either 42v or 48v but. I don’t know if the cart can handle the increase in volts/amps. I uploaded a picture of the motor but not sure what it all means

The motor can handle it but the controller-probably not. You will probably need a new controller, cables, and the charger.

How do I check to see what kind of controller I have? The lady I got this from made it street legal and the controller looks like it’s new. I can post pics of it if needed

Don't know of any carts that came stock with a GE motor labeled D297. But, yes the motor will be fine on 48v. Stock controller, not gonna make the cut.

The solenoid is marked for 36v, so I know it would need to be replaced. I was also thinking of maybe adding a voltage reducer and just run 42/48 anyway to get a little more out of it as far as run time.

Your's is a 1999 Series cart
The controller is stock - 36v only.
The most popular upgrade for this cart is the Alltrax SR48500 controller/400 solenoid for around $559
If the terrain is flat and the tires are not too big you could use a SR48400 controller, especially on 48v. More volts = less amps needed.
You can find 400/400 combos for $499 or 400/200 for even less

My plan is to probably stay around stock tire size which is 18.5 I think. Just got with a little A/T tire for it. It’s gonba be used at the hunting camp and neighborhood. I won’t be taking down into any bottoms simply due to lack of trust in getting back out
