Default Low Top Speed

I have a 2009 Club Car Precedent. At the end of golf season it would stutter when accelerating this happened a hand full of times. This spring it would accelerate fine, but only reach 7mph. I’ve been on the forum searching for answers. I replaced the 4 12v batteries (6 years old) they were pretty bad, but new ones didn’t fix it. I got a new MCOR2 from a Club Car dealer today and just put it in. Still doing the same thing. I did the speed sensor test, when I pushed it it felt like it was trying to slow itself down, but didn’t beep. I parked on an incline and just rolled backwards with no beeping. It’s an ‘09 so it had the old sensor which was replaced with an MCOR2. Help is appreciated. Thank you!

Your speed sensor has failed and you are in Limp Mode. It should have an ADC motor and this is the sensor for it https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...or-made-in-usa. Please confirm the "Top-Hat" style before ordering and/or call David for any questions.

Thanks. I guess after all the reading I was thinking that these were the same thing!

You could have a welded solenoid.

Do I take the entire floor out to get to the speed sensor? I’ve found videos showing the quick install, but not exactly where it is. Thanks!

The speed sensor is screwed onto the tail end of the motor. It should come off with two screws and a pug in attachment

How do I get to the motor? Currently I have the floor mat off and the triangle piece out as I removed the pedals. Sorry this is my first time digging into one of these

Doesn’t help to remove the floor. My cart is stock and I’ve replaced mine without jacking it up or removing the right rear tire. If you’re not comfortable crawling under the rear of the cart to access the end of the motor then one or both of the above will make access a bit easier... I’d guess. Suggest that you put a drop of blue loctite (removable) on the threads of the single bolt securing the magnet. Magnet is located under the top hat sensor.

Be sure to put the carts run/tow switch in tow before you do anything involving electrical. And I’d remove at least the primary negative cable, if not both the primary negative and positive cables. If you have ANY confusion about this STOP and ask for clarification. Failure to do so may result in very expensive repairs.

Looking under the cart from the rear you will see the rear axle with the motor on top. The motor attaches to the rear axle left of center line of cart. On the opposite end of the motor, the end facing the right (passenger side) rear tire you will find the speed sensor. See link above for picture. Small black top hat looking thing with three colored wires coming out of it. Two small machine screws hold it on.

Buy a quality speed sensor. Cheap knockoffs aren’t worth the postage it cost to mail them. They are usually DOA or die shortly after installation. You can’t go wrong with the link posted somewhere above.
