Yes you need to flip the TOW/RUN before any work on the electrical system, but i'am not sure you have a switch, there are different drive systems for that year

If it has a TOW/RUN switch, always put it into TOW mode when working on batteries/electronics/cables . . . TOW mode isolates the electronic/electric components from the batteries (except the on board computer (OBC) for charging capability) eliminating possibility of "bad stuff" happening . . .

Don't panic yet! There is a way to test the motor with a DMM but i'm not sure how to tell you the correct procedure. Someone will be along shortly and let you know. If that's the case, this would be the perfect time to send it to Plum Quick with $225.00 and have them make it into a high speed motor!

it won,t have a R/T switch i don,t think they had them in 97 at least none i have ever seen...............it dosn,t take much to spin one of the studs and you may want to take the motor out and take it apart to look and see if in fact you did spin it.....................have you looked at the F&R to make sure no wires pulled loose up there?...............if your 100% that you hooked cables back up right than it would have to be either you spun one of the motor studs or a wire came loose somewhere............................

If I pull the motor and take it apart, what am I looking for and is there any pitfalls to pulling one apart?

Well....I pulled the back of the motor off to look at the studs from the inside (I do not recommend this). Nothing is broken and all was tight. I don't know where to go from there. Anyone have any ideas? Am I gonna have to haul it to the golf cart house?
Also can someone post a picture of there stock cables mounted to the motor so I can verify I have them all hooked right? You know...match color to location. What would happen if by some chance I did accidently swap 2? |

Guys slap me if I'm wrong but he said he HAS FORWARD!
If he had stripped a motor stud then he would have a NO GO ANYWHERE as the circuit would not be complete in either direction. (IF it is a SERIES wound setup (If it's something else then I'll shut up) (thumb up for not stripping) Barna EDIT: On second thought I don't care what setup it is series,shunt, three phase AC,stepper motor,what ever it is if you strip/disable a motor connection,you are not going anywhere! |
