Angry serial number changed by Club Car

I just bought what I thought was a 2011 Club Car "gas" cart. Based on the serial # tag inside the glove box area, and come to find out it is actually a 2007 as I found out after removing the floor mat and saw the old tag on the frame.

Does anyone know if Club Car is allowed to change the serial number tag to show a later year and not disclose it as a re manufactured vehicle ? It was represented as a 2011 not a re manufactured cart.

The hour meter was also obviously reset as it only showed 90 hours.

Thanks for any promt help, as I need to address this problem immediately !!

If it is a certified CC rebuild/reman unit, they will issue a new serial number . . what is the "new" number you have? The number will provide all the info if it is a rebuilt/reman . . .

8G1126- are the first numbers

I presume the 8 means something and the G means gas

It's a remanufactured serial number. It was re-manned the 26th week of 2011 model year.

Is the seller required to disclose to the buyer that it is re manufactured ?

As I stated before, it was represented as a 2011.

Couldn't tell you for sure. I'm the service manager. I have nothing to do with sales at all. Where'd you get it? From a dealer?

. . . there is nothing wrong with buying a reman by CC . . it is stripped down to frame and inspected . . all/any defective/worn parts are replaced . . also has 2 year limited warranty . . as for seller disclosure, dealer "should" represent it as what it really is . . private owner may not have known better . . .

It was from a Club Car dealer in South Florida.

There was no disclosure and it definately was not stripped down to the frame as it had what appeared to be 5 years worth of dirt under mat and on frame.

Also had front end issues, F/R switch issue, seems very slow, however I am used to high speed electric motors.

Looked good on the outside though.

I feel deceived !!!

Unit was rebuilt last June/July . . previous owner may have traded it in/sold it to dealer you bought from after romping through swamps all summer . . your dealer did not detail it, obviously . . and your dealer should have known from serial number it was a reman unit . . .

It had a Club Car sticker on the front that said " for all your rental needs " which leads me to believe that they re manufactured it, rented it and then dumped it as a 2011, not a 2007 re manufactured to a 2011.

So they probably leased it to a club (made plenty of $), re manufactured it in 2011 and rented it (made plenty of $$), then represented it as a 2011, sold it an (made even more $$$).

They had several for sale, and I am not even sure that I received the one I looked at and chose.

I imagine this goes on all the time. There should be disclosure requirements.
