Default swapped f&r for reversing contactor, install pics included

I've seen some people swap the f&r for a reversing contactor but many mount the new contactor right where the f&r was. That requires a lot of high current cable if you upgrade all cabling at the same time.

A better solution is to mount the reversing contactor above the motor since 3 of it's 4 wires go to the motor anyway. This shortens the amount of cable needed by almost half.

Below are pictures of a completed conversion with new batterites, 1/0 welding cable, 700 amp FSIP controller, ITS converter and upgraded series D&D torque/speed motor.

That's a great idea!! I'm still waiting to do my install. I don't need to upgrade my wiring….yet. But when I do, this is the way I will go. I'm glad I stumbled across you post today!!

Yup, saving wire saves money and you gain that space vacated by the old f&r switch also. I used that space for a 12v battery since the on-board charger takes up the space on drivers side.
