ds gas starter or belt ? cart slow to get rolling

thanks again for all the info on here. hopefully this is it for me.

when i push the gas pedal, i hear the motor and starter working, but i almost have to push pedal all the way down before it goes forward/reverse, and it kinda jerks into motion, not a smooth forward/reverse start.

could this be the belt, or should i look at other areas, starter/clutch etc.

i have the body off being repainted, so i would assume go ahead and make any upgrade now while it is easy to access. im going to replace both starter and drive belt anyway.

motor runs fine once im going.

Make sure the bracket on the rear end is not bent up (trick to get it to go faster) as it will act like that. Bend the bracket so it is in line with the cable.

bracket looked good. Could it also be a throttle cable isssue? needs to be tightened?

The belt may be loose. Does it squeal? Without the body on it should be real easy to adjust the belt.
