Upgrade motor Q's
Hey folks, my neighbor asked me to help him upgrade his motor since his failed. He's looking to possibly add a few mph in the process so I told him to look into a "speed" motor. I don't have a lot of experience here since I'm still running my factory motor. He has a 2014 precedent with a 400amp controller (alltrax) rolling on 18" tires. He runs 24mph & is hoping to gain 2-4 mph while maintaining the regen braking. Can a higher h.p. motor gain mph without any other changes? I explained to him that a slight lift with a bit larger tires would get him there but he wants to get there with a motor since he has to replace it anyways and doesn't want to change his lift/tire set up. I just don't have any expertise in this area. Can anyone add insight here?

Re: Upgrade motor Q's
Tell him to call Plum Quick motors online. They should be able to fix him up with something. The Alltrax will need a new field map installed to match the new motor. The maps and the software are free.

Re: Upgrade motor Q's
I appreciate the reply guys. Will the Plum Quick motors retain the regen braking? I'll have him give them a call. Thank you!

Re: Upgrade motor Q's
It's optional meaning some of their motor options retain Regen Braking and some do not. Some may have a manipulated speed sensor that count 50% of the rpms - Call them to see what options are available for your cart and voltage.
