air filter jet upgrade on a 290?

Anyone do the bigger jets and less restrictive air filter on a 290? Is it worth doing? I was going to buy a K&N element, just so I could reuse it, but now I'm thinking it may be too lean for that. Any thoughts?
I know I owe everyone pictures - I just got an 03 DS last week - I've already got it part way ripped apart.

That's where I saw the kits - I just didn't know if anyone felt it was worth doing - I ended up picking up a Beretta filter at Napa last night.
